Experteer Overview
As a Mechanisms Design Engineer, you define and optimize spacecraft mechanisms for manned and unmanned missions, balancing mass and performance with aerospace materials. You will perform requirements analysis, material and component selection, and multibody analyses to shape reliable mechanism solutions. You’ll drive CAD models, tolerances, and verification plans, while supporting procurement and testing activities. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to enable robust space hardware backed by rigorous analysis.
Responsabilità
- Define and size mechanisms parts and interfaces using hand calculations, preliminary multibody analysis, and FEM
- Select materials and surface treatments; specify tolerances
- Review CAD models and drawings, ensure design to requirements
- Perform multibody modeling/analysis with ADAMS or Motion View
- Support development and verification plans for spacecraft mechanisms
- Prepare and present design/analysis reports and instrument mechanical testing plans
- Occasionally perform design verification via structural analysis (hand calcs or FEM) and prepare static, kinematic, dynamic test plans
- Specify design/development/modeling of mechanisms and control laws using MATLAB/SIMULINK or equivalent
Requisiti fondamentali
- Mechanical engineering expertise
- Knowledge of metallic and non-metallic technologies for materials or processes
- Aerospace design and analysis methodologies and manuals (Bruhn, Roark)
- Tribology knowledge
- CAD/CAM capability and manufacturing drawing reading
- Proficiency in Multibody analysis tools (ADAMS or Motion View)
- Experience with Nastran and FEM post-processing tools (Hyperworks, Femap, Patran)
- MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent; programming/analysis capability
- Master Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
- English proficient; French is a plus
