As Head of Architecture for GCAP, you will shape the next-generation digital architecture across a multinational defence programme. You lead a cross-functional team to deliver modular, federated, and secure digital services that integrate digital engineering, product, platform, and mission systems. You will drive an outcome-focused governance model, champion modern security by design, and ensure architecture coherence across national boundaries and partners. This role offers high-impact stewardship of a scalable architecture that enables rapid collaboration and future-ready capability growth.
Responsabilità
- Define and evolve enterprise and solution architecture strategy focusing on modular open systems, digital engineering, and federated operations
- Shape the architecture roadmap in collaboration with the Head of Technology
- Build and lead a high-performing architecture team and mentor stakeholders
- Coordinate with Chief Engineer to align digital, product, platform, and mission system architectures
- Challenge traditional defence design approaches and introduce cutting-edge technologies
- Champion federated architecture across three nations and multiple partners while respecting sovereignty
- Establish and chair architecture governance and assurance forums to deliver mission outcomes and design integrity
- Lead secure and sustainable design incorporating Zero Trust and export control standards
Requisiti fondamentali
- 15+ years in solution architecture within complex digital or engineering programmes
- Proven track record in architectural transformation for defence, aerospace, or critical national infrastructure
- Strong understanding of digital engineering environments (PLM, MBSE, ERP, digital twin)
- Experience designing modular, open systems with Zero Trust and secure-by-design principles
- Expert knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, MoDAF/NAVAF, Zachman) and DevSecOps practices
- Exceptional leadership and senior-stakeholder influence skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Architecture, or related field
