Research Group Leader Cardiovascular Medicine The European Academy Bozen/Bolzano (EURAC) is an institute for applied research and further education in South Tyrol / Italy and is subdivided into five different research fields including also life sciences. EURAC is establishing, in collaboration with the South Tyrolean health service (Südtiroler Sanitätsbetrieb), the “Center for Biomedicine” in Bozen/Bolzano, which should expand up to 100 employees in the next five years. Building on the research results of the existing Institute of Genetic Medicine, research in “Cardiovascular Medicine” should be further extended and launched as a autonomous research group inside the Institute of Genetic Medicine. The aim of this research is the discovery and further study of genetic and environmental risk factors influencing cardiovascular diseases, the understanding of underlying molecular mechanisms by which these risk factors operate and the translation of combined genetic, environmental and biological findings into clinical practice and into prevention-oriented population medicine programs (public health).
