PostDoc, Analysis of the natural-hazard impact on chemical critical infrastructures CALL REFERENCE NO.: IPSC/G.6/25 Status: open, deadline on 6 Jul 2011 at 23:59:59 CETThe Action "Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)" within the Security Technology Assessment Unit is dedicated to providing scientific and technical support to the European Commission in the area of the protection of critical European infrastructures. Critical infrastructures are found in many different sectors, including energy and transport, ICT, space, water, food, finances, etc. Due to their complexity critical infrastructures are exposed to a wide range of threats including natural hazards, technological accidents and intentional acts of sabotage, which require adequate protection measures.   The candidate would work on analyzing the impact of natural hazards and disasters on chemical critical infrastructures including transport pipelines. The aim of this work is the identification of system weaknesses under natural-event loading, ensuing failure modes and damage states, and final consequences in terms of their impact on safety and the supply security.
